CERCLE


455 Whitehall St. is located in Mechanicsville, a historic neighborhood where African American locomotive repairmen, known as “mechanics”, lived. The neighborhood’s energy slowed down after the locomotive industry shrank. 

Cercle is an adaptive reuse proposal for the existing building shell and atempts to intersect community needs with social, environmental and economical sustainability.

MURMUR


Murmur is a precast concrete acoustic sculpture situated on the west side of Oak Hill at Piedmont Park. Its parabolic shape amplifies and reflects sound, creating a unique acoustic environment that engages local musicians and children, and energizes the surrounding lawn.

CROSLAND
CHROMA


Located on the library terraces at Georgia Tech, Crosland Chroma functions as a safety guardrail. By utilizing the existing steel frame and the southern orientation of the terrace, 192 polycarbonate panels laminated with dichroic film were installed along the edges. These panels not only enhance safety but also improve the thermal comfort of users by casting a mesmerizing array of colored shadows.

Water surrounds us; water pervades us; water is in the air. My concern this semester has focused on an inverse proposition, the quality of space and life that results when air is introduced into water, like a child blowing bubbles through a straw.
