CROSLAND CHROMA

Formations Studio was tasked with finding a creative safety solution for the edges of the terraces at Georgia Tech’s library. With a simple fin design, the polycarbonate fins twist 90 degrees from the bottom to the top to create a guardrail that meets building code requirements. Coated with a nano-engineered dichroic film, the fins change color as they twist, creating a spectrum of light. This shifting spectrum serves as a physical representation of the amplitude of knowledge and learning that take place at the library.
